I should be getting ready for work.

Gah…that’s just horrible.

This morning I paid $3.45 per gallon for gas. I spent almost thirty bucks on just 8 gallons. Oi. As I left the gas station, I wrote “$3.45″ on a little piece of paper and stuck it in front of my speedometer, the idea being to remind me next time I want to take off when the light turns green, or rush to fill in a gap between me and the car in front (to avoid people cutting me off…cause they will cut me off) that it’s costing me a fortune.
I watched my tachometer (that’s your RPM gauge folks) and figured out that I really shouldn’t go over 2.5 (x 1000) RPMs for regular traffic, and I decided nothing over 3 on the highway. That puts me at about 70mph. (Don’t blame me. This is Atlanta, and driving 55 will get you shot.)
I can’t begin to tell you how much this changes driving. It’s not longer a pressure cooker game of “who can I beat.” I’ve experienced this before when totaling my truck left me with no other option but Teresa’s 1993 Buick Century that wouldn’t drive faster than 65 without loosing pieces. I have to say, it’s a nice way to do things. With an hour commute to and from work every day, the stress of driving is pretty hard to avoid, so having this little game to relieve some of it is nice.

Sometimes I like to play a little game called “Guess which box Teresa let Noah hold while they went grocery shopping.”

The name needs a little work.
Oh no! He wants more!

Do not give your child a new toy 5 minutes before it’s time for he/she to eat. Doing so may alter your child’s normal eating habits.

So Noah has started to babble. he’s always been fairly vocal, but it’s starting to sound like actually speech patterns…sometimes. Let’s just say it’s a lot more abundant than it use to be. Upside: It’s freakin’ adorable. Downside: it comes with ridiculous amounts of drool. And drool bubbles. Big ones. Like the size of his fist.

NOTE: Seems there are some issues with the player, playing everything at double speed. If Noah sounds like a chipmunk, try the download link.

Last weekend I watched one of my favorites movie, The Princess Bride
. If you haven’t seen it, you should. The cover makes it looks like a film for 8 year old girls, but I assure you, it’s fun for all ages. And you’re missing out on some big pop culture references (My name is Inigo Montoya…)
For those of you who have seen it, you’ll know it has awesomely cheesy music, which fits the film perfectly. But with it, it has a great love theme that reappears throughout the film. but there’s a downside to this love theme.
A big downside.
Last weekend I decided to watch through the credits, to hear more of this love them, only to be greeted by these horrendous lyrics.
Come my love Ill tell you a tale
Of a boy and girl and their love story
And how he loved her oh so much
And all the charms she did possess
Now this did happen once upon a time
When things were not so complex
How he worshipped the ground she walked
And when he looked in her eyes he became obsessed
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
Its as real as the feelings I feel
This love was stronger than the powers so dark
A prince could have within his keeping
His spells to weave and steal a heart
Within her breast but only sleeping
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
Its as real as the feelings I feel
Now he said, dont you know I love you oh so much
And lay my heart at the foot of your dress?
She said, dont you know that these storybook loves
Always have a happy ending?
Then he swooped her up just like in the books
And on his stallion they rode away
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
My love is like a storybook story
But its as real as the feelings I feel
These are some terrible lyrics. Worse is when you hear them to the music, where, in some cases, he has to rush the phrasing to fit all the syllables into place. Nothing ruins a good melody like trying to crush 9 words into a place that only fits 4. And while I’m not totally stuck on rhyme scheme…you should at least make the lyrics appear to be in song form.
Oh well. No movie can be perfect, and I imagine there are worse things than having the lyrics in the end credits be terrible. Say for instance, aliens that are allergic to water.
